About Us

Nolan Engineering, PLLC was established in 2006 in Schenectady, NY with the purpose of providing structural design, construction drawings, consulting, and inspection services. Since 2006, Nolan Engineering has experienced steady growth and built relationships with many construction firms who send continuous referrals.  Nolan Engineering provides many design services including, but not limited to:

Nolan Engineering employs full-time Engineers, Architects, designers, and support staff. We have Engineers who are licensed in NY, CT, DE and CO. Our Engineers have diverse backgrounds and expertise in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, City Planning and Aeronautical Engineering. We have a full-time staff of dedicated designer/drafters with years for experience in AutoCAD and Chief Architect. Nolan Engineering has experience in the following areas:

In 2020, our company completed roughly 1,200 individual jobs of various sizes and we are on track to beat that record this year. Our company has performed thousands of structural inspections and designed hundreds of structures over the past 15 years.

Nolan Engineering is also the designer and supplier of structural repair products such as the Insta-Footing and Joist Repair Kit (www.nolanstructuralproducts.com), which are also available at local Curtis Lumber stores.  Our products provide state-of-the-art methods of repair which require a fraction of the time and cost when compared the current, standard methods. 

Nolan Engineering strives to meet our client’s deadlines and is excellent at being available to tackle any problems that arise on site in a timely manner.  Using our experience in solving many structural problems over the years, Nolan Engineering provides innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions to save our customer as much time and money as possible

Meet Our Team

Rich Nolan, PE

Rich Nolan, PE

Owner

Rich is a licensed professional engineer with 21 years engineering experience. He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Engineering from RPI and was employed by Knolls Atomic Power Lab for 8 years before starting Nolan Engineering.  He has 2 children.  In 2022 Rich launched Nolan Structural Products, which is a sister-company to Nolan Engineering that focuses on designing, manufacturing and distributing structural repair products.

Jason Singer, RA

Jason Singer, RA

Architect

Jason is a registered architect with 20 years experience. He holds a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He spent 10 years in Portland, Oregon, working on many office tenant fit-ups, new high-rise office buildings and mixed-use residential towers, banks and retail projects. Coming back east, Jason focused on healthcare architecture in the Hudson Valley, designing new medical office buildings and medical office fit-ups, before moving down to Philadelphia, where he grew up. His work in Philadelphia mostly focused on multi-family residential construction along with restaurant and retail projects. Jason has settled in Saratoga County with his wife and children. He enjoys exploring what the Captal and Adirondack Regions have to offer, and traveling to spend time with family in Vermont.

John Furlong

Senior Forensic Analyst

John has over thirty years in the property insurance industry utilizing his unique background experience in various aspects of the property failure analysis and construction/restoration industries within the insurance community. John’s experience can be utilized for structural investigations and failure determinations. John can recommend proper repair procedures for losses and prepare damage or competitive estimates. In addition, he is frequently asked to be a party in the appraisal process as identified in an insurance policy.
John received his degree in Civil Engineering and is continuing to pursue his Professional Engineering designation. He is also a member of the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department.

Jocelyn Mosher

Director of Operations

Jocelyn holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting  and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from The Sage Colleges. She is also a New York State certified Notary Public and owns multiple rental properties. She has 2 daughters and 2 English Shepherds who take up the majority of her free time, but she also enjoys gardening, making art, and attending local live music events.

Brian Choi

Engineering Project Manager

Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from University of California San Diego. Prior to joining the Nolan Engineering team, Brian worked for The Consulting Engineers Group in Murrieta, California, where he designed structural pre-stressed concrete for commercial construction. Outside of work, he enjoys spekding his time outdoors, from snowboarding to rock-climbing.

Terrel Broiles

Drafter

Terrel holds an associate degree in fine art from the Junior College of Albany. After working three years in the construction field, in 1985 he joined a land surveying firm as a manual drafter. Throughout the last 38 years he has worked as a designer/drafter in several related disciplines including: residential, commercial & industrial architecture, civil engineering, land surveying & subdivision design, AEC textbook illustration, as well as 3D & photo rendering. In his spare time, he enjoys painting & studying art. He has been married 40 years and has three daughters.

Steve Alheim

Drafter/Designer/VR/3D

Steve After 4 years of active duty in the Army, Steve settled in the Pacific Northwest to attend school, getting his AAS in Drafting and Design Technology while continuing his Army career in the Reserves. His early experience involved design and installation of fire sprinkler systems, working for Patriot Fire Protection in Portland Oregon. Upon moving to New York in 1998, he began drafting for local firms specializing in commercial projects such as high schools, libraries, and municipal centers. Realizing his desire to do more residential projects, he worked for Lincoln Logs in Chestertown, NY until its demise in 2008 and as proprietor of JGS Drafting in South Glens Falls. Before coming to Nolan Engineering, Steve worked as the drafting manager and lead designer for Eric & Eric, a design/build firm in Brant Lake, for 9 years and served on a local planning board for 6 years.

Outside of work, Steve and his wife enjoy multi-day backpacking trips, hiking, and traveling on a budget.

 

Collin Parsons

Associate Engineer

Collin is a recent graduate from Clarkson University, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.  Prior to joining the Nolan Engineering team, Collin worked as an intern in the design group for the NYS Department of Transportation.  He has settled in Saratoga Springs to begin his engineering career and is excited to get to know the Capital Region and experience all it has to offer.

Scott holds an Architectural Technology (AAS) degree with over 12+ years of experience in the industry working with both engineering and architecture firms forming a solid understanding of both disciplines and their interactions with one another. He has worked on numerous types of projects over the years but has found that his true passion is helping clients with additions and renovations to their existing residential properties or helping them design new ones. Listening to their desires and needs, he can provide guidance through the sometimes-overwhelming process offering suggestions on how to avoid unnecessary complications often translating into cost savings and expediency of the project while still maintaining the desired outcome, helping them to find a result they are truly happy with.
During his time off he enjoys spending time with his wife and chocolate lab, hanging out on the deck or in the greenhouse listening to music, gardening, hiking, cruising in the classic car, home renovations, and dreaming of the Florida Keys..

Jeromey Vojnar

Jeromey holds a AAS degree in drafting and design technology with over 10 years experience in residential construction. He was a 3rd generation residential contractor that owned and operated his own company. He holds a ACI tech certification, and Storm Water Site management certification. After graduating with his AAS degree he designed cell tower sites for over three years working with two telecommunication engineering firms in the Capital Region, but his passion for residential construction drove him back to the construction industry. In his spare time he can be found with his wife and kids and riding his motorcycle showing his support for multiple benefits.

Joe holds as AAS degree in Drafting and Design Technology with over 25 years experience in architectural design. His project list includes Design and Construction Documents for Residential Homes, Retail Stores, Apartment and Senior Living Complexes, Health Care Facilities, Banks and Fire Stations.  Joe was born and raised in the Capital Region and resides in Glenville with his wife and daughter. Outside of work, Joe enjoys wood working and spending time with his family.

Bryan Waugaman

Bryan attended Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Highschool. While there he studied art, architecture, engineering, metal fabrication, and drafting. He would go on to graduate early in January 2021 and go straight into Hudson Valley Community College that spring. While there he studied a myriad of things. Civil engineering, architecture, construction management. While not currently holding a degree in any of those Bryan does hope to attain a degree in some form of engineering. While not at school Bryan worked for Marcella’s Restaurant in Glenville for 2 years, and at the Lake Hill Stewarts for 8 months before Rich Nolan recruited him to work at Nolan Structural products. Bryan has been using all his skills including his knowledge of Auto Cad. He works closely with Rich Nolan the owner to design, test, and manufacture the products we sell. Always busy yet always willing to lend a helping hand.
