Nolan Engineering, PLLC was established in 2006 in Schenectady, NY with the purpose of providing structural design, construction drawings, consulting and inspection services. Since 2006, Nolan Engineering has experienced steady growth and built relationships with many repetitive builders and homeowners. We employ full time engineers, architects, designers and support staff. Our engineers have diverse backgrounds in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, city planning and civil/structural engineering and are licensed in NY, NYC, VT, CT, MA and NJ. Our designer/drafters have years of experience in AutoCAD and Chief Architect. We believe in treating our clients with respect and continue to grow through creativity and innovation. We plan to maintain our stellar reputation and become the number one structural engineering and design firm in Upstate New York. Meet Our Team
Rich Nolan, PE
Rich is a licensed structural engineer with 17 years engineering experience. He holds a Bachelors and Masters degree in Engineering from RPI and was employed by Knolls Atomic Power Lab for 8 years before starting Nolan Engineering. Rich is a member of the American Wood Council and the American Concrete Institute. He has 2 children.
Tom holds two degrees: a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome, and also a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Accounting. Prior to joining the team at Nolan Engineering, he worked at L. Sipperly & Associates in surveying and land development. When not at work, he can usually be found outdoors, hiking, camping, kayaking, running or biking.
Scott holds an Associate’s degree in Architectural Technology from HVCC. He has over 10 years of experience in residential & light commercial construction. Prior to becoming part of the Nolan Engineering team, Scott worked for DeRaven Design & Drafting as well as for Richard H. Green, PE, PC, in Delmar, NY. He has designed and drafted all kinds of projects, from additions to new construction. In his spare time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and family, cooking, gardening and his classic car.
Art has 34 years of design experience and holds a degree in Architectural Technology and Commercial Art. Prior to Nolan Engineering, he worked for Kurzon Architects in Albany, NY overseeing all CADD related projects. He has taken and passed two A.R.E. and is currently scheduling further exams, and is an Associate Member of AIA. Since joining Nolan Engineering, PLLC he has taken on many other projects such as Blessing’s Tavern, Cottage St Apartments and a new gas station for Route 50. He has designed many home repairs, additions and designs.
Associate Structural Engineer
Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from University of California San Diego. Prior to joining the Nolan Engineering team, Brian worked for The Consulting Engineers Group in Murrieta, California, where he designed structural pre-stressed concrete for commercial construction. Outside of work, he enjoys spending his time outdoors, from snowboarding to rock-climbing.
Jeromey holds a AAS degree in drafting and design technology with over 10 years experience in residential construction. He was a 3nd generation residential contractor that owned and operated his own company. He holds a ACI tech certification, and Storm Water Site management certification. After graduating with his AAS degree he designed cell tower sites for over three years working with two telecommunication engineering firms in the Capital Region, but his passion for residential construction drove him back to the construction industry. In his spare time he can be found with his wife and kids and riding his motorcycle showing his support for multiple benefits.
Julia holds two degrees: an Associates in Liberal Arts with majors in psychology and criminal justice from SUNY Adirondack. She also attained her Teaching Assistant Certificate through the college. She moved on to get a Bachelors in Science with major in psychology from SUNY Plattsburgh. While completing her degree she had a gorgeous baby girl who has grown to be just as passionate for horses as Julia. After graduation she followed her lifelong passion for horses. She trained horses and taught lessons for ten years, while also working an office job full time. In 2017, she started a new office position at Nolan. Since starting she has learned much about the engineering and design industry, enjoying interacting with clients, while also maintaining her passion for horses.
Mike is originally from Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Computer Processing Institute (CPI) in Cambridge, Mass, in the late nineties. Mike received a certificate in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and two congratulatory letters for making “Department Chair” in his class. Mike also worked for Feldman Land Surveyors in Boston and has 33 years experience in construction. He also has held licenses in Construction Supervisor and Lead Abatement. In his spare time, Mike also volunteers with with the local fire department and sat on the board of directors. As of late, he has decided to join Nolan Engineering. Mike is a devoted husband and father and enjoys cooking, woodworking, and vacationing.
Steve After 4 years of active duty in the Army, Steve settled in the Pacific Northwest to attend school, getting his AAS in Drafting and Design Technology while continuing his Army career in the Reserves. His early experience involved design and installation of fire sprinkler systems, working for Patriot Fire Protection in Portland Oregon. Upon moving to New York in 1998, he began drafting for local firms specializing in commercial projects such as high schools, libraries, and municipal centers. Realizing his desire to do more residential projects, he worked for Lincoln Logs in Chestertown, NY until its demise in 2008 and as proprietor of JGS Drafting in South Glens Falls. Before coming to Nolan Engineering, Steve worked as the drafting manager and lead designer for Eric & Eric, a design/build firm in Brant Lake, for 9 years and served on a local planning board for 6 years.
Outside of work, Steve and his wife enjoy multi-day backpacking trips, hiking, and traveling on a budget.
Debora holds an Associate Degree in Architectural Technology from HVCC. She is currently working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Building Science with a Minor in Management at RPI and plans to continue her education towards a Master’s Degree in Architecture. She focuses on sustainable, energy efficient and innovative designs with a passion to protect nature. Excells in coursework while maintaining a leadership position as a Residential Director at RPI. She also serves as a peer mento rof incoming students at Rensselaer. Prior to working at Nolan Engineering, she has had over 8 years of experience relating to customer service which also includes 2 years of working with AutoCAD and Photoshop. Debora is very skilled at AudoCAD Revit, Rhino, LadyBug, Diva, Photoshop, Illustrator and much more. She also enjoys working out, traveling, spending time with her family, music and drawing.
